Meet Kim Urbanowski

Hello, and welcome! I'm Kim Urbanowski, a Navy brat, wife and veteran, former elected official, entrepreneur, and mother of a blended family of five. My journey has been anything but typical, and it's filled with the kinds of experiences that bring together insights, valuable lessons, and plenty of stories.

I have dedicated many years to public service and community building, working as a Planning Commissioner, Trustee and Treasurer for theCharter Township of Orion, and previously as Executive Director of the Orion Area Chamber of Commerce. I also took a deep dive into the world of entrepreneurship, opening Urban Gourmet, a boutique food store that allowed me to turn my passion for cooking into a career as a personal chef. This blend of family life, financial expertise, and culinary passion has taught me more than I ever imagined.

Through From the Helm: Navigating Family, Finances, and Food, I share what I've learned about balancing career shifts, navigating family life, managing finances, and the joy (and challenges) of feeding both bodies and souls. Whether it’s tips on financial stewardship, insights on creating harmony in a blended family, or stories from the kitchen, I hope to inspire and connect with you as you navigate your own journey.
